Daily Schedule

Friday 2/24

I’m so sorry, but I’m sick and can’t make it to campus today. Please use our class time to work on the blog we were going to write in class, making sure to follow all the directions. Please be sure to read the comments I made on your last quote blog. Also, don’t forget that your conference music blog is due by end of day today.

Once again, I’m sorry for the trouble and please email if you have any questions.

Have read 105-146 (all of creature’s narrative). Discussion questions:  How does the creature’s eloquence as a narrator affect you? How does it compare to the movie? What is the creature’s reaction to nature? Why is this important? What does the creature learn from the family he is watching? What are his hopes and expectations? How does awareness of self affect the creature? What leads to the creature’s hatred of all humans? Are his feelings understandable? Is he justified in his demand of Frankenstein?

Blog Entry: Please pick out quotes to use for your paper from the creature’s narrative (105-146) and explain how you will use them in your final paper. Please write in a narrative form and follow all MLA conventions for quote formatting. Due by 6pm on Sunday.

It needs to be two full pages long and include an introduction and a conclusion. This rough draft does not need to include any outside sources—it should be made up of your own opinions and arguments, supported from textual examples from the novel. Your rough draft should be labeled with your first name. For example: NanceeRD.doc. Your paper needs to be in Word and it is your responsibility to make sure it is formatted correctly and will open correctly.  If it does not open, you don’t get credit for it. I will return your paper by the next class period 3/26).

Third draft due at 1pm; Peer review by 5pm

Your third draft is due to your peer reviewer today by 1:30pm. You only need to send your paper to your peer reviewer. This draft needs to be four full pages long and incorporate the arguments of at least two of your classmates’ papers, which will be available to you per their blog.  Please use examples that both work for and against your argument. For example: Nancee Reeves, who argues for the villainy of Frankenstein in her paper “Horrible intent,” is mistaken in her principle assertion because she assumes that the scientist’s motives are egotistical. That is not the case. Indeed, I argue that Frankenstein is in fact an altruistic character.” Please email me if you have not received your partner’s paper by 1:40. Review and edit your peer review partner’s paper and send their paper to me by 5pm today. Your subject line should read “[peer review partners] paper reviewed by [your name].”
